Cafes & Bars - Cairns

Updated: 02-Mar-2018

Cafes we like within walking distance of Cairns City hotels:

Sweet Bistrot is next door to the Pullman Cairns International.  Opposite Reef Hotel Casino.  This cosy little family run cafe serves yummy quiche, toasties and very good coffee.  Located on Abbott St only 50 metres from our office.  Yippee!

The Chamber Room fragrance of coffee is comforting.  Delicious fresh made savoury and sweet muffins.  Located in the laneway between Pullman Cairns International lobby on Abbott St and Lake St.

Che Zest in the original Cairns Ambulance Brigade Building on the corner of Aplin and Grafton St.  This is within walking distance of The Hotel Cairns.  They serve delicious fresh french breads and pastries.

Bang Espresso is a little edgy and does great coffee.  Located on Spence St between Abbott and Lake St.

Caffein'd is located on Grafton St diagonally opposite the entrance to the Rusty's markets.  This is a fabulous spot for excellent coffee on a Saturday morning or any other time.

The Swiss Cake & Coffee Shop is also located on Grafton St and serves lovely patisserie items along with delicious sandwiches.

Meldrum's  is Cairns favourite Pie shop.  Every visitor needs to try one of these pies.  This pie shop must be the most awarded in Australia.  Absolutely unbeatable and also on Grafton St.

Perrotta's fits into the restaurant and cafe criteria.  All locals love Perotta's and you will too.  Outside the gallery on the corner of Abbott & Shields St close to the swimming lagoons.  This is an ideal spot for people watching too.

Check out the Attic next door to Gilligan's on Grafton St.

Salt House often has live entertainment and it hops with locals on the weekend, check local gig guides.

The Reef Casino is also always jumping.

The Lounge underneath the Woolshed is great for a dance with Backpackers.

Blue Sky Brewery is very popular on Wednesday trivia nights and they are our local brewery.  Make sure you visit.  The beers are very good here.

Feel like exercising those vocal chords?  How about a night of Karaoke at Kan Pai.  Located on Grafton St this is a typical Japanese pub environment with yummy food and a great vibe.

One of the most popular bar revivals in Cairns at the moment is the "Outback Jacks Bar and Grill" on Thursday nights, dining at it's best comfortably located in a Cairns icon, the old Blues Club.  The Bar and Grill have re introduced live music to entertain the the alfresco diners every Thursday night with the house band "JAMES MANN & THAT CAIRNS BAND" Corner of Abbott & Aplin Streets Cairns 6.30 - 9.30pm
