Daintree Boatman Nature Tours provides 2-hour small-group wildlife cruises focusing on highly sought-after birds, crocs and snakes, along with insight into the ecology of the mighty Daintree River. Cruises are limited to a maximum of 10 passengers to enable a personalised esperience with cruises customised to the viewing hopes of passengers.
Two hour public cruises are conducted in the very early morning and late afternoon whilst birds are at their most active and the river is at it's most scenic. The vessel used is a unique ?hybrid?, utilising a regular outboard and an incredible electric engine powered by a portable 24v lithium battery. The electric motor reduces wildlife disturbance leading to better wildlife observations.
This cruise is owned and operated by Murray Hunt, a professional guide with experience at some of the great locations around Australasia including Uluru, Kakadu and Fiordland. This business is currently TripAdvisor?s top ranked Daintree River cruise and a member of TripAdvisor?s Hall of Fame.
Cruises depart from the public boat ramp in Daintree Village, 100m downhill from the Daintree Village Hotel. Nearest residental address is 1 Stewart St, Daintree Village. Transit time from Port Douglas is 45 mins; Cairns is 1hr 40 mins; Cape Tribulation is 1hr 20 mins.

What will I see?
Crocodiles, tree-snakes, water dragons, butterflies and highly sought-after birds are seen on most tours. Key birds include Azure Kingfisher, Little Kingfisher, Papuan Frogmouth, Great-billed Heron, Wompoo Fruit-dove and Shining Flycatcher amongst others. An average of 40 wildlife species are seen or heard per cruise. A wildlife checklist is availabe on board for guests to use.
What to bring?
Cameras and binoculars (if you have them).
Hat and jacket should it be chilly or drizzly.
Insect repellent (usually not a problem).
