When dining at On The Inlet seafood Restaurant Port Douglas, you can select your own live mud crab from the live tanks...
The multi award-winning On the Inlet Seafood Restaurant is the only specialist seafood restaurant venue in Port Douglas with waterfront views of beautiful Dickson Inlet and gateway to the Port Douglas Marina.
The outdoor decking dining area is suspended over the water.
Watch the boats sail past as you indulge in a deliciously refreshing cocktail from the Groper Bar, or sample the famous sunset special of a bucket of prawns and beer/wine/champagne and watch the yachts returning to the Port Douglas harbour then watch the giant Groper being fed!
"George" the groper is a mostly permanent resident beneath the pontoon of the restaurant. Daily at 5.30pm, one of the staff will feed the giant groper with a fresh fish frame. The fish frame is tied to a rope, and the groper launches himself out of the water in order to wrestle the frame off the rope.
On The Inlet prides itself on offering modern Australian cuisine with a menu designed to showcase the freshest local seafood and best quality locally grown produce. The local Port Douglas fishing fleet delivers straight from the fishing grounds to the restaurant loading pontoon.
Head chef Matthew Swan or “Swanee”, has a profoundly simple philosophy towards food - “use the best local produce available and don’t do too much to it”.
Enjoy superbly fresh seafood whilst sampling outstanding Australian and imported wines from an impressive and impeccably selected wine list.
This serene sunset dining experience is totally unique to tropical North Queensland.
