Sailaway takes an hour and a half to sail to the Low Isles, a beautiful secluded small coral cay complete with blue lagoon, white sandy beaches and coconut palms, surrounded by magnificent coral gardens and the Coral Sea. On a clear, calm day the visibility is generally that good that you will be able to see the sandy bottom 8 metres below!
Named by Lieutenant James Cook in 1770, the Low Isles lie 15km from Port Douglas. Settled in 1878, with the construction of a lighthouse, Low Island become home to two families. A Heritage Walk was opened in March 2000 and is a must do when visiting the island.
The Low Isles comprise of two islands, the smaller is a vegetated sandy cay - Low Island - and the second and larger is a shingle cay - Woody Island. The reef community around Low Isles comprises at least 15 varieties of soft corals and approximately 150 species of hard corals. Several hundred species of reef fish live amongst the coral in the lagoon.
You will have 5 hours to relax and explore this beautiful secluded island. You can swim, take a guided snorkel tour, or if you prefer not to get wet, take guided glass bottom boat tour.
Included is a superb tropical buffet lunch including Prawns, spicy chicken, rare roast beef, ham, potato salad, green salad, coleslaw, fruit platter, fresh country bread and condiments.
Before setting sail for home, enjoy delicious home make cake and tropical fruit platter for afternoon tea.
