Trinity Sportfishing runs half day fishing tours departing morning and afternoon from the Marina Mirage Port Douglas. The morning fishing tour departs at 8.00am and returns at midday, the afternoon sportfishing tour departs at 1pm and returns at 6pm.
This small and personalised fishing tour is suitable for anglers of all experience levels. It is also perfect for those that suffer from sea sickness as it is calm water fishing. The Port Douglas inlet is protected from the wind by the mangroves and even during strong wind warnings, the anglers can enjoy calm water fishing.
The estuary fishing in Port Douglas Australia on the Dickson Inlet is simply superb! Especially when you are accompanied by an experienced and knowledgeable local fisherman that is addicted to Barramundi fishing.
It also helps if you are fishing from a purpose built fishing boat. "Jesse" was designed with the needs of the serious sportfisher in mind. Plenty of room for casting, stable and with a shallow draft. During the hot summer months there is shade provided by the canopy so anglers can fish without overheating.
The Dickson Inlet in Port Douglas is a biologically rich and diverse estuary ecosystem that acts as a nursery for many fish species. Unlike a river, which is affected adversely by lack of rain, the Dickson Inlet Port Douglas is an estuary which means that the tides ensure a regular supply of fish species. Using the bait fish that the predatory pelagic fish feed on ensures exciting fishing action.
Sea Eagles, Brahminy Kites and a large variety of birdlife and crocodiles are regularly seen on this Port Douglas fishing tour. Spectacular views of the Rex Range and Mossman Gorge can be enjoyed whilst fishing on the Dickson Inlet in Port Douglas.
This Port Douglas estuary sportfishing operation is strictly catch and release as this ensures sustainable fish stocks for the generations of recreational anglers to come. Live bait is caught using a cast net at the beginning of the tour. The use of live bait ensures aggressive predatory fish are targeted.
Bill takes no more than six anglers, and caters for all levels of fishing skill from beginners to experienced anglers. Quality Shimano tackle is used as well as custom built sportfishing rods.
Fish species regularly caught include: Barramundi, Fingermark, Mangrove Jack, Grunter, Queenfish, Cod, Tarpon, Salmon, Bream and Giant Trevally.
