Day One: Arrive into Cairns, check into the Oaks Lagoons Port Douglas

Oaks Lagoons offers new contemporary holiday apartments within easy walking distance to Four Mile Be. The property features expansive decks, cabanas with barbeques, lush ferns, and soothing water features. There are 6 breathtaking lagoon pools. Your accommodation is a 2 Bedroom Deluxe Apartment.  The Apartment is made up of a 1 Bedroom Deluxe and a Studio.

Day Two: Quicksilver Great Barrier Reef Day Tour

Quicksilver will pick your family up from Oaks Lagoons and take you to Agincourt Reef, a magnificent ribbon reef where you can snorkel, dive or stay dry and explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver semi-sub.

Your day at a glance:

09.00am  Pickup from Oaks Lagoons
10.00am  Depart Marina Mirage, Port Douglas
10.30am  Snorkelling demonstration and Introductory dive information presentation
10.30am  An informative Marine Biologist slide presentation also takes place on the upper deck
11.30am  Arrive Outer Barrier Reef - Reef activities commence: 

• Enjoy free swimming and free snorkelling from submerged platform
• Underwater observatory open for coral and fish viewing
• 20 minute Semi-sub tours depart every fifteen minutes from the rear of the platform
• Pre-booked guided snorkelling tours with Marine Biologist ( optional )
• Diving and helicopter scenic flights ( optional )
• Fish feeding conducted at snorkelling platform at advertised times

12 noon  Hot and cold five star tropical buffet lunch including fresh prawns, pastas, meats, salads and fruit. There are full bar facilities available where you can purchase drinks. The platform has tables for you to enjoy lunch and undercover seating
1.30pm  Lunch finishes. Time for more activity or just relax and take in the view!!
3.00pm  Depart Agincourt Reef for Port Douglas. Reef video and photo viewing on board
4.30pm  Arrival at Marina Mirage, Port Douglas
5.30pm  Transfers back to Oaks Lagoons


The Platform at Agincourt Reef Site:   Floating like an island in a coral sea the platforms have tables for you to enjoy lunch, undercover seating, fresh water showers and change rooms to allow you to enjoy your day. There is also a water powered lift to allow easy access for all passengers.

Semi Submersible Coral Viewing:   If you would like to stay dry, then you can explore the stunning reef from the comfort of a Quicksilver sub. The semi submersibles cruise slowly through the colourful coral gardens giving passengers the opportunity to experience a snorkellers-eye view of the marine life.  The semi-sub experience takes approximately 20 minutes and includes an informed commentary on the marine life observed during the journey and an overview of the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef. Semi-subs depart every twenty minutes from the rear of the platform.

Underwater Observatory:   You can also see the coral and watch the fish feeding from Quicksilver's unique viewing platform and underwater observatory located directly in front of the platform. From here, you can also view "first time" divers taking part in introductory dives and snorkellers.

Snorkelling:   Snorkelling is one of the best ways to view the incredible underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef, and Quicksilver's friendly staff are on hand to show you how. On your way out to Agincourt Reef you can view an instructional video on how to snorkel to teach you the right techniques.

Upon reaching the outer reef, you can obtain your snorkelling equipment from the storage containers on the platform.  Lycra stinger suits are also available to hire. Fish feeding takes place from the platform so you can view the marine life up close.

If you would like to learn a little more about the Great Barrier Reef whilst snorkelling, you may like to try one of the optional Snorkelling Expeditions with a qualified Marine Biologist. This is at an additional cost.

Day Three: Hartleys Creek Wildlife Park, Skyrail & Kuranda Scenic Rail

Start your day to Kuranda with an adventurous crocodile experience!

Hartley's Crocodile Adventures is a fantastic place for Families and the best place to see crocodiles in Tropical North Queensland. Hartleys Crocodile adventures is located between Port Douglas and Cairns and is the home to a number of distinctive vegetation types and an abundance of other wildlife including water birds, turtles, wallabies and cassowaries.

You time at Hartleys Includes a unique eco adventure boat cruise where you have the opportunity to experience these prehistoric creatures being pole fed up close!

See the endangered flightless cassowary being hand fed and walk the pontoon bridge across the freshwater crocodile lagoon.

Next Stop Skyrail Cableway:

Climb the Macalister Range, offering superb views of the Coral Sea and the World Heritage Rainforest. Skyrail is the World’s Most Beautiful Rainforest Experience.  

The Skyrail experience, spanning 7.5kms over pristine rainforest, allows you to explore the wonders of an ancient tropical rainforest and learn about one of the most botanically fascinating and diverse areas on earth.  

Gliding just metres above the rainforest canopy in comfortable 6 person gondola cabins, the Skyrail journey immerses you in an intimate rainforest experience where you’ll see, hear, smell and become part of the tropical rainforest environment. 

Red Peak Station: Your gondola will descend through the canopy layers and take you deep in the forest. Complimentary guided boardwalk tours are available throughout the day.

Barron Falls Station: On approach to Barron Falls Station you will enjoy spectacular views of the Barron Gorge, a deep chasm lined with dense rainforest vegetation and a state-of-the-art Rainforest Interpretation Centre.

Kuranda Village: From Barron Falls, your Skyrail experience continues through the mountains before gliding over the mighty Barron River and arriving at Skyrail’s Kuranda Terminal. Skyrail’s Kuranda Terminal is located a short walk from the famous village of Kuranda where you’ll be able to enjoy the local attractions and shopping.

The Skyrail Experience will take approximately 90 minutes to complete

Kuranda Scenic Railway:

After spending time in Kuranda Village meet your guide for a transfer to the famous Kuranda Railway Station. The train stops at Barron Falls as it meanders down the mountain, passing through 15 tunnels enroute to Freshwater Station (approx. 1¼ hours) where you board the coach for the journey back to Oaks Lagoons.

Kuranda Scenic Railway: Since June 1891 this famous railway has offered passengers a very special journey between Kuranda and Freshwater Station. Admire the toil of the men and women who built this line over 100 years ago as it passes through 15 hand hewn tunnels and over many bridges, crossing waterfalls and ravines as it traverses the very edge of the Barron River Gorge where you will stop at the Observation Deck for photographs.  

Departs Oaks Lagoons at 7:00am, returning 4:30pm

Days Four & Five: Free Days

Free time in Port Douglas. The Escape to Port Package is a value option designed for families who would like to experience the best of North Queensland and have some free time to enjoy Port Douglas. Both tours depart daily and you are able to switch them to other dates during your stay at Oaks Lagoons.

Please Note: The Escape to Port Package includes accommodation and tours but does not include Airport Transfers or any meals besides meals included on your tours. Options are available to upgrade to a Plunge Pool Apartment, please enquire for special rates. You can start this package any day of the week.
